Eraser is not a valid Win32 application

Yup, I only fixed the naming in the latest build. The old names will be cleared as new builds appear.

    Errors when erasing recycle bin

Well, what's corrupt in the recycle bin can't be recovered, so those are as good as lost anyway. The recycle bin you see on your desktop is actually a collection of $RECYCLE.BIN folders. So I don't really get what you mean by "functioning" recycle bin. If you mean that you can still send files...

    Eraser v.6.0.10 error message

Translated: The file is in use. But this file is probably a program.

Eraser is not a valid Win32 application

It's not, it's determined at build time. Rather sticky, in my opinion. Anyway we're only using VS2012 for Eraser 6.2. Eraser 6.0 will still be compiled with VS2008.

Eraser is not a valid Win32 application

I'd imagine quite a large proportion. This can't be unique to Eraser. There's a patch for VS2012 to compile for Windows XP, but that is inconsistent to say the least, because it will still default to produce XP-incompatible binaries. And you only need one library to not work on XP for the whole...

Sadly, that's Microsoft decision. Garrett decided to upgrade the version of VS we're using, so naturally we're limited by that.

There's a second part in that post which you have not followed yet. Try that first.

Eraser is not a valid Win32 application

Ah, yes. New compiler. The 6.2 binaries are compiled with VS2012, which do not run on Windows XP. The forum post thing -- I thought I fixed it a while ago. Try clearing cookies first, because there was a misconfiguration a while back.

    Stopping/Starting Eraser

Unfortunately no. There's no way to stop it and continue later at the moment, sorry.

    Permissions Problem

How did you exit Eraser? Before running it as an admin, do you see the icon in the system notification area?

    What happened to Eraser?

I also tried erasing directories, it works fine on my computer. The progress bar is now hidden, you can get it by double clicking a task while it runs The complete notification can be blocked by you in Windows' notification settings.

    Permissions Problem

Eraser 6 doesn't have a portable version yet. And Eraser 5's no longer supported. For your original problem, can you copy and paste the task log here? Right click the task, View Task Log. Select everything then right-click>Copy.

Did you exit Eraser before starting the new instance as an administrator?

Eraser takes long time to load

If deleting the task list fixed it, then just leave it as that.
