CPU load question

I have a question concerning CPU load:

When running DBAN from a CD-R/ROM (I don't have a floppy drive), the CPU load never seems gets above 1% (granted, I don't sit there for hours watching the screen). The Throughput fluctuates regularly with speed measurements consistent with the wipe method used. When the process finishes, it states that there were no errors.

Am I doing something wrong? Did I burn and/or load DBAN incorrectly? I burnt the .iso file as an image file via Nero.

thanks

I assume that "I/O limited" stands for Input/Output? If not, please clarify: I consider myself somewhat computer literate. Regardless, I'm relieved to know that I wasn't running a "dummy" program.

Yes.

The idea is that your desktop computer has more horsepower in the CPU than in its other components. Whether running DBAN or not, your CPU spends most of its time idle waiting for things to happen.
