Error trying to re-install Eraser

My laptop got a bug. Did a recovery that mostly wiped add on programs and then put it in a shop to get it thoroughly de-bugged. I tried to re-install Eraser but keep getting an error when it tries to install C-Net (?) files. Did a search in all files & folders and see a lot of eraser stuff including 2 Uninstall shortcuts but neither works, just generates an error code.
I'm guessing I need to remove this stuff before a clean re-install can work...... but how? HP laptop running XP..... help!
 
Most likely you've got a corrupt Windows install. If the .NET installer doesn't work, the only one with the know-how would be Microsoft.

You can try getting Windows reinstalled, but that would not be easy.
