All I want to do is wipe my current OS (Windows 7) and reload with Windows XP (I have an XP disc) Your instructions for wiping all my files is complicated. Can you help me?

Unless you are giving the machine away just boot up with the XP disk and let it format the whole disk.
To totally wipe the drive use DBAN.
