New install of eraser, About reports it is v. 6.0.1.661, though i thought I had downloaded 5.86a from sourceforge. Windows vista business 32.
.
When I attempt to add data to a scheduled task, a pop-up window advises that i have an unhandled exception. I can 'continue' or quit. Continue does not allow me to add data. Erasing from the explorer menu seems fine. Here are the details that I get:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Yes you got v6 which is a Beta. Did the link pointed you to a wrong version? I'll check the stack traces for bugs and get back to you on this.

Could you please post a screenshot (or send it to me by email if your screens must be private) of your disk layout as reported by Disk Management?

  1. Right click on Computer. In the context menu that appears click on Properties. Click on Continue for any UAC prompts that follow.
  2. Under the tree on the left, go to Storage > Disk Management
  3. Take a screenshot of the disk maps on the right
I need that list because I cannot replicate all possible configurations of disk drives. Eraser accesses the disk layout to see which drives are available for free space erasures. This is a problem that surfaces in v6 and not v5 because v6 will allow you to erase volumes not only mounted in a drive letter, but also in an NTFS folder (as a reparse point).

Thank you for your help!
Joel
