Tray Menu List

Perhaps the tray icon menu list needs to be updated to reflect some of the features of the application once the main screen is open.

The main ones that I think should be included are:

  1. New Task
  2. View Tasks

---> Cancel Task
---> LogFile?
---> Edit Task
---> Delete Task

Could #239 be included as well.

  • Status changed from new to pending

I don't think the New task menu should be in the system tray because after task creation the user will still have to go to the Task list to execute the task. Unless... do you have a proposed workflow (i.e. steps the user will take)

View tasks -- what will the menu items refer to? If it is referring to the current task being executed, I believe once #239 is implemented the need for this will be annulled

On the new task option then when the "task creation" process is done there is an option to run immediately so they wouldn't need to then go to the task list to execute the task.

I have done a brief outline flow in the attached Word document for you to look over.

For #239 then I don't have Windows 7 and cannot find anything on the net about the animations of the network icon then some of that idea would be useful but not everyone is on Windows 7 and probably won't be for some time. Just think of how many people are still on XP rather than Vista.

One thing I have just thought of is that if you hoover the mouse over the tray icon then a summary of the tasks could be displayed such as

0 Tasks running
2 tasks scheduled

Again #239 may cover this.

This sounds like stuff meant for a Jumplist. I'll close #311 as a duplicate of this.
