I assume you wiped the drive completely? Connecting/reconnecting not working? Its possible the drive has crashed after the 35 pass erase. It might have been on the verge of failure or it needs low level formatting.
Check the manufactures sites for the issue of not seeing the drive.
The .Net runtime has to load up with Eraser when you run the screens. Sadly this is never going to match the old V5 for speed as .NET has to interpret the code rather than actually execute binary :(
This is probably the .Net runtime loading. Once its started up the app should be just as snappy as before. - Perhaps your AV app is rescanning the exe every time.
Is there any speed improvement after several right clicking sessions?
These sound like installer issues - try installing ccleaner and using it to remove the entry for eraser from the install registry then try reinstalling.
This seems like a permissions error - can you run as administrator? also check the owndership on the directories.
Another option is to give the directory tree 'everyone' and "full control" access before trying to erase.
If data etc is stored in the registry or you have installed software etc etc - the only way to 100% clean the machine is to boot with DBAN wipe the partition and then reinstall -
when you delete a file its pointer is moved to the recycle disk location.
if you have been editing this file you may need to run a free space erase as well to ensure no fragments remain.
Uning several apps during an intensive HDD or CPU usage phase is always a bad idea as you could potentially crash the OS, best to do these tasks when the computer is idle.
We have been using google pagespeed to enhance the website performance and we have been getting the same errors. Some changes were made today so let us know if you still have issues.
I suspect there are other application dll's being loaded when you right click on the recycle bin or do you have several drives as eraser has to cycle through them all.
