Eraser is the wrong tool for what you want to do. If you are retiring a hard drive, as I mentioned in another thread recently, you would be better off using DBan to securely erase the entire contents of the drive.

Does your user account have administrator privileges? I've not seen the 'requires elevation' notice before but I'd hazard a guess that it might be related to you not having enough privs to run the app. Someone else might be able to confirm this.

It looks like this isn't going to happen any time soon, there have been many requests for a nested context menu. There are two options: 1) Put up with it. 2) install the 5.87 beta and chose not to install the recycle bin context menus but you wont be able to securely erase the recycle bin.

I am assuming you are using an older version of eraser. Certain versions had a feature that over wrote the file on its last pass with a random dll from your computer. From the screen shot this is what looks like is happening. It is not a virus so nothing to worry about :) Update your eraser...
