    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

The five files that I most often erase are in my list of Eraser tasks. Usually, I launch Eraser and select one of those tasks to run. Today, however, I selected one of those files in a window, right-clicked, and selected Eraser from the pull-down context menu to erase it. I now discovered...

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 Eraser 6.2.0.2991 I still sporadically (not consistently) get the problem, at least when erasing an object (file or folder) via the Windows Explorer pull-down context menu.

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

I will have several opportunities to test it later this week. In the meantime, I would appreciate if there were a change log for each new version. This could be either on your Web site or a cumulative file installed with Eraser. I prefer the Web site so that I can see what changed before...

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

I just now repeated my tests and got different results. NOTE: In both the prior set of tests and the tests reported below, the target file was pasted on my Windows desktop AFTER AVG was either enabled or disabled. In Test #1, Eraser erased the .txt but created a "Queued for execution" task...

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 AVG AntiVirus Free 20.5.3130 Eraser 6.2.0.2990 I installed Eraser 6.2.0.2990 without terminating anything. Instead, I rebooted after the installation. During the installation, the installer could not write one item; I selected Ignore. Eraser is NOT installed in the...

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

I copied a plain-text file (extension .txt) and pasted it on my Windows desktop as erase-test.txt. Using Notepad, I added several lines of random text. Then I waited several minutes. I selected the file erase-test.txt, right-clicked, and selected [Eraser > Erase] from the pull-down context...

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 Eraser 6.2.0.2989 I selected a file, right-click, and select Eraser from the pull-down context menu. When I was done, I terminated Eraser. When I launched Eraser again, it had a new task for the file that I erased. This seems to be a regression but with a...

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

YES!! It worked. Thank you. I think this issue is now closed. HOWEVER, version 6.2.0.2988 is not yet available to the general public. The old configuration manager in me (30+ years) thinks this problem should be held open until that version becomes available.

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

Aha! I jumped to a conclusion (about the only exercise I get) based on the size of the installer file. Apparently, prior versions of Eraser included .NET and were thus much larger. I installed .NET 4.7.2 on 30 July 2018 installed all updates through 5 February 2020 (my installation date, not...

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

The link to Eraser 6.2.0.2987 is for a stub installer. How can I get a full installer. It is my practice -- based on 30+ years of doing configuration management on software -- to disable my Internet connection when installing new or updated software.

Will that new version work with Windows 7?

Under Settings, I have checked the checkbox for "Automatically remove tasks which run immediately and completed successfully". I still have this problem.

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

When I erase a file via the Windows Explorer context menu, a task is automatically added to Eraser's schedule. Sometimes, this results in duplicate tasks. I only want those tasks that I explicitly create during a drag-and-drop operation. How do I prevent automatic creation of tasks?

    Notification Icon Persists

If I erase from the Windows Explorer context menu, that pops Eraser into the notification area (aka tray). I must then manually exit Eraser to remove it from there. Others have noted the same problem in other forum threads. On the other hand, if I launch Eraser from Windows' Start menu...

    New Version

I solved the problem about "Integrate Eraser into Windows Explorer" WITHOUT any help from this forum or from the Eraser developers. I noticed that, as I install new versions over old ones, the settings used by the old versions persist. Many versions ago, I did not install with "Integrate...

    Notification Icon Persists

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 Eraser 6.2.0.2982 Is there some way to make the Eraser icon disappear from the Windows notification area when its task is completed? My notification area is already too large, but I do indeed want the other icons there. I know this could be solved by terminating the...

    New Version

Yes! I got the full installer and installed Eraser 6.2.0.2982. Now I have two problems: 1. When I use Eraser, its task completes, and I select the X in the upper-right corner of its window to terminate it, its process does not terminate. The Eraser icon remains in my Windows 7...
