    I believe you on your bug report. After some investigation it seems the AV app (ESET) in my case was locking the file and it then got queued for erase on reboot. Could you turn off the AV protection, re-run your test and let me know what happens. I can repeat your bug but not all the time...

    Are we sure this file was not in use at the time and the task got queued for the scheduler? Will the same happen for a text document?

    If you are using the older OS it might be better to select eraser 5 and use that on those machines.

    ok try the new release Hopefully this fixes your issue ! Uninstall eraser first and reboot then install the new version.

    ok another release Again tested on Win10. Your error: Eraser.Settings+RegistrySettings.GetValue[ Seems like corrupt registry entries. Make sure you have administrator access to the PC. Uninstall eraser from the windows programs and features section. if it fails try install/uninstall...

    Install the .Net framework from here first: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ie/help/4054530/microsoft-net-framework-4-7-2-offline-installer-for-windows Then try installing eraser. I'll look at embedding the runtime in the install but that tends to make it very large.

    Have released a new version here - this version targets Win10 and the newer .Net framework. Have tested it on different Win10 machines. Let me know if you still have the issue.

    Completed with errors

    The problem has been responded to many times. Errors are caused by a variety of reasons e.g locked files , Anti -Virus application interfering, Disk errors etc You need to look there first before blaming eraser.

    in the root of the drive there is a directory called erasertmp - delete this. You can also try running eraser in 1 pass mode again until it completes.

    1. There is now a version with runtimes 2. Updates are to the installer, compiler version and digital cert - the new cert requires a dongle to be used while signing wich means only we can sign the app. 3. yes there is press help in eraser and a PDF manual gets displayed.

    Do you see any errors in the windows event log? Try turning off any Anti-virus applications as these can interfere with erasing.
