Eraser is not dead, there have been recent builds - check the downloads page. Very little has been changing hence the lack of new releases.

Think of eraser as something you use at the file level. DBAN is more for wiping the entire disk partitions and all. With eraser you can wipe the disks beyond C:\ completly but not c:\ as you cannot wipe the OS while its running.

This means the erasing did not complete. Rerun it with a one pass erase and see if it completes or look for the eraser temp directory in the root of the drive and erase that.

This sounds like Outlook express is running on your machine and just recreating them everytime it starts up. Have you checked if outlook is running?

The actual issue is the size of the files eraser is creating to fill up the diskspace. We will look at how this might be done in the next release.
