You need to uninstall and then manually delete any eraser dll's and files, then delete registry entries as well. Finally reinstall.
Hopefully that should fix the issue,
On a modern drive one pass erase will be just as good as the other methods:
Recovery possibilities are based on:
- Damaged drive so it cannot be erased in the first place
- SSD drive where the data can be written to a different place each time - here a full wipe should work but individual...
Few things to note:
1. The 000's of files it recovers after a wipe are the random data files eraser creates during erase.
2. Files which seem to be recovered should be full of random data.
What happens if you
1. Erase a file with known data e.g 'aaaaaaaaa' in a txt file can you recover it...
If you want to totally purge the machine of all possible information then you need to use something like DBAN and reinstall the OS afterwards. Eraser is best suited to wiping individual files and old deleted data on the machine. It does not go hunting around for credit card details etc to wipe.

Erase the windows trash or empty the trash and do a freespace erase.
Re: I need to Format my HDD. i need to know if DBAN will do

I think you are trying to do a 35 pass erase or something, 4 days seems excessive. Run one of the faster erase cycles like 1 pass as it should finish much quicker. Tere halso be a disk issue where it cannot read the drive and just gets stuck in a loop
if the disk is attached to your windows OS you might have permissions issues. The quick solution is to format the drive, then do a freespace erase and finally format it again. The last format is just to tidy up the file table.
Is this error on the screen or in the windows event log?
Have you tried obvious things like running windows update?
uninsall and delete %appdata%\local\eraser 6 then reinstall. What happens?
If you go to program files in explorer and then eraser and execute the exe by dbl clicking on it do...
