First the root issue is that Comodo must be scanning the files and thus interfering with the erasing process.

We removed EraserD.exe from the install some time ago.
Download and install Eraser 5.7 http://www.heidi.ie/download/eraser57setup.exe
You will find eraserD in that.

This is possible when eraser is filling up the empty disk space - however it has never been reported until now.
The cause is eraser accidentally generating the correct signature of a virus while it fills the disk space with random data.

If this is the case you need to loiok under the Wow6432Node in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ i.e
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Heidi Computers Ltd\Eraser\PROTECT

This is a windows installer issue.
Please install the previous full release and not the beta and then let us know what happens. The 'official' release from the eraser homepage uses a 100% MSI installer, I am curious if you get the same problem.
