Best Way to Securely Erase HDD After Migrating Website Backups?

I run a website where I store and manage all my project files locally (backups, client documents, exported databases, etc.). Most of the working copies and backup archives are currently stored on my main PC.

I’m planning to move everything to a new device and want to make sure I do it properly. My main concern is what to do with the old machine afterward. Since it contains full website backups and sensitive data, I don’t want anything recoverable left on the drive.

Would wiping free space with Eraser be enough after manually deleting the files, or is it safer to wipe the entire drive before reinstalling Windows? The drive is a regular HDD, not SSD.

Just trying to follow best practices when dealing with backup archives and private data.

Any advice would be appreciated.
