Cannot run ERASERD in DOS 6.22?

I'm trying to wipe the swap file on an older computer running Windows 95. I fixed the swap file at 100MB and rebooted to DOS. The computer is set up to dual boot MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 95. However, even though I am NOT in DOS mode (typing VER at a DOS prompt shows MS-DOS Version 6.22), I get the following error message:
  • This program cannot run in DOS mode.
I rebooted the computer from an MS-DOS 6.22 floppy disk and got the same error message. Is ERASERD not compatible with MS-DOS 6.22?
