I want to erase the data on laptop drive so I downloaded & installed Eraser. I plugged the subject drive into a docking station attached to my desktop and used the Windows Explorer extension to initiate erasure of the data on the drive. The process was running for almost an hour, but without any change in the status. I right clicked the task and selected "Cancel task". Nothing happened. I then tried clicking Stop on the progess dialog box below.
Again nothing happened. The status box does not change even though the green bar is cycling.
I eventually uninstalled the software and re-installed it in the hope that the whole system would be reset. When the program began executing it was still running the same task that was going nowhere.
My question is how do I get rid of the task? Is there an initiation file somewhere, or a cookie that I can delete and start again?
