I am trying to remove all web sites visited. When I add the path to username local settings history. it adds it to eraser, but it doesnt clear it. Do you have a fix for this?

Do you also have a list of all paths I should erase on my pc to remove any trace of web sites visited or any temporary content downloaded? ie, pictures, conversations, urls. etc...

Thanks.

1. Search the forum for tips on what files to wipe.

2. Get spiderbite,mrublaster, spybot .

Files to wipe

Hello,

On XP I wipe the contents of the following folders (assuming I log on as Administrator each time): -

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Cookies\
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\History\
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Favorites\Links\
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Recent\
E:\Internet cache and cookies\

In addition I have the page file set to a constant 360 Mb (see Local security settings).

If you log on as more than one User will need to do the above for each UserID.

Website history has to be deleted manually (I haven't found it yet either). The only way to purge this is then use an 'unused space' wipe.

Note that to get the Index.dat files deleted you need to boot into Safe mode (no network connections) and run them for a different UserID than the one you log in for.

Cheers, Rob

PS I'm still learning myself so this may not be an exhaustive list.

Hi no trace, the answers really depend on what browser you are using and which OS. Assuming IE on Windows, the list Rob posted is a good start- however there are many methods to do this and many hiding places for the offensive files. I ran a nice list from my win98 autoexec.bat file (things are done differently with win2k, and I haven't used nor researched winXP), wiped all the IE garbage (and then some) every reboot- even though I rarely used IE back then and never use it now I still keep a close watch on the directories and files.. it's a trust thing, and with MS/IE I have little of it for them...

here's a post of mine that may help:
