Hi,

I have XP Pro and the latest Eraser product (5.6?). On what criteria should I make my decision on whether or not to delete cluster tips?

i.e what happens if I don't and what could happen if I do?!

Thanks, Rob

Cluster tips are the space between the end of a file and the end of the last cluster it's stored in. Let's say you have a 2K file and 32K clusters... all 2K of the file are written into one cluster, leaving 30K unwritten at the end of the cluster. If there was a file with sensitive data occupying that cluster at some previous time, the 30K that wasn't written may contain stuff that was there before.

Benefits: make sure to erase everything
Pitfalls: it's slow.
