Considering a basic security question (regarding this forum)

On most forums when you lose your password, they only ask for an e-mail address for recovery. Here you ask a user name AND e-mail address as well. I usually forget my user names (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=9102).

Do you think asking for both can add anything to the table? From a security standpoint. What can you offer for one who lost his/her user name? Consider this. Thank you.

TBH, and I'll be frank, nothing.

But the forum is just a stock phpBB install. I can write PHP, but as it stands I've got insufficient time to work on Eraser, so... we'll have to stick to whatever behaviour phpBB prescribes, I'm afraid.
