Eraser 5.88 uninstall / reinstall

Tried to uninstall Eraser - it comes up with this message "Setup has detected eraser is currently running
Please close all instances of it now then click ok to continue. Or cancel to exit"

There is no instance of Eraser running under task manager processes or applications, or under services.msc.
Tried restarting with Eraser set NOT to open on start, checked the above again and nothing showing yet still same error.

Tried to remove manually via registry etc. It seems to have gone except its not - the eraser veryify and eraser files using right click is still working.

Tried to reinstall from your website in the hope i can reinstall and uninstall again and the message is STILL showing.

How do you get this off your system if reinstall/uinstall wont work!
 
You need to disable the shell extension.. or run the uninstaller with explorer EXITED since the shell extension loads explorer... which locks Eraser.dll.

how do you 'disable shell extension though?
 
The easiest way is to start the uninstall, when prompted to close all instances of Eraser, terminate explorer.exe then press OK. When the uninstaller finishes, restart explorer by using the Task manager.
