I'm going to have to send my hard drive into seagate to get some warranty service done (aka replaced) because about half the sectors on the drive no longer work. Will eraser still be able to get rid of the data on the drive?
Eraser can only erase what it can access. If the computer can't access those sectors, then Eraser can't either.
You might try running SpinRite from grc.com to see if it can recover the sectors for you. I have recovered "bad" drives this way. It isn't free software though.
