On two different computers running XP, NTFS, in the last couple of months I have noticed that after erasing the recycle bin, a large number of files in other directories get set to zero length. The file name is still there, but there is no data. I lost thousands of Kodak digital photos (fortunately backed-up) on one machine, and about 200 files in one directory on the other machine. The first occurance was when I was using Eraser 5.6, the second was 5.7.
Scandisk shows the directory structure is ok.
I have never wiped the free space on the second machine, but I had on the first.
Any ideas? I am fairly afraid to use Eraser again....
