Eraser will not install

Here is the situation: Fresh install xp sp3. I download version 5.86.0.0 (EraserSetup32.exe) to desktop then click. Error message says "cannot start setup, setup file may be corrupt or may have wrong password.... Blah blah blah..."
Now what?
 
Maybe you could download the file again? It could be a corrupt download.

I have the same problem on Vista Home and I've downloaded it 3 times. Also tried 64bit version with the same result. User account control is off and I select "run as Administrator".
 
Could you try the new 5.8.7 binaries?

when you right click on EraserSetup32.exe and select properties do you see the digital signature tab and if so does it verify ok?
 
Where did you download it from? The lack of a digital signature means the binaries were not made by us and we will not be able to provide you support for this (as any modification could have been made without our knowledge)
