Eraser with computer in use

Is it possible (advisable) to have Eraser perform an Unused Disk Space pass while using the computer? Or is there some reason the computer must be in total idle state?

I work on my computer 7 days a weak, and with a very large HD with lots of stuff, Eraser cannot complete the task even overnite.

So the question is, will Eraser work correctly while I am using the computer?
 
It should, you will just experience a marked decrease in performance. You shouldn't experience any corruption (I can't guarantee v5, but I can say that for v6). v5 is guaranteed to have no issue when the computer is in use only if you are using FAT32 or NTFS without encrypted or compressed files.
