Probably, nothing.

How much cluster tip erasing adds to security is an interesting and debatable point, which depends on your view of the likelihood that a cluster tip will contain recoverable private data. I happen to believe that cluster tips are less problematic than shadow copies, the contents of the paging file, system restore points and other copies of user data, both extant and deleted, that the OS squirrels away all over the system.

I have half an idea that Joel was looking at the path length problem; he might confirm that. System Restore points are, as far as I know, pretty much out of bounds to Eraser (or any other user application, for that matter).

One of the changes you will see in future versions of Eraser is that unavoidable issues of this kind will no longer be described as errors, but (in my view more correctly) as warnings or information. They may represent what the file system regards as error conditions, but they do not stop Eraser working, and they do not, I believe, represent a significant threat to user security.

In any event, I don't think you need to worry.

File names too long for most programs to handle do exist on new OSes, but the Shell hasn't been upgraded to cope with these paths (so Eraser cannot readily deal with them). The only way is to implement raw file name handling within Eraser, but that isn't due until 6.2.

On my computer only Eraser is reporting such an error.

I only am aware of two applications which create this: Windows Live Messenger, and Windows Updates. Some users say that Sandboxie also creates such a problem, but I've not independently confirmed that.
