System:
Packard Bell 882
Cyrix M II-333
64MB
Fujitsu MPC3043AT 4.3G Hard Drive (0:0)
CD-ROM (1:0)
LS-120 (1:1)

Using:
DBAN 1.0.3

Problem:
DBAN fails with "failed with non-fatal errors" after the screen stating dwipe is starting. Unfortunately, there is no logfile generated (floppy is not write protected) that I can find. This occurs when using either the floppy DBAN or CD-ROM DBAN. I disabled the channel the LS-120 was attached to in BIOS but that didn't work. I tried adding the /dev/hda parameter as suggested in http://www.cipherserver.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=327 but that didn't work either.

Workaround:
I physically removed the LS-120 drive and used the CD-ROM DBAN.

Thanks.

DBAN can't write log files to LS-120 devices because it doesn't have a driver for them. They're actually ATAPI devices, not floppy drives.

The write-capable ATAPI device bug may still be in the dban-1.0.3 release, so unplugging the LS-120 device is the right choice.

I've got an LS-120 now, so I'll investigate when I get some time.
