I'm selling my laptop, and I reformatted the hard drive three times (Had a problem the first 2) and then on the third installed Eraser and ran 1 pass with a pseudorandom over the free space (which was everything but the operating system and Eraser). Am I safe to sell this without any risk? All my school and a bunch of financial data was on it.
 
Yeah I ended up doing a 7 pass wipe after this on all the free space. Don't really feel like doing a total DBAN/Reformat again. I figure after 3 reformats and multiple passes of free space, there's nothing that could be gotten of use.
