How to Import Classic Outlook PST File in New Outlook 2025?

To import a classic Outlook PST file into the new Outlook 2025, you can follow a manual process using the built-in import feature. Open Outlook 2025 and go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export. Choose Import from another program or file, then select Outlook Data File (.pst). Click Next, browse to the PST file location, and select it. Choose whether to allow duplicates or not, then select the destination folder. Click Finish, and Outlook will begin importing the emails, contacts, and other data.

However, this manual process has several challenges. Large PST files can slow down the import, and in some cases, the process may hang or freeze. Additionally, users often experience issues with folder structure mismatches, missing attachments, or corruption in PST files that prevent a smooth import. If you are migrating to an Office 365 account instead of a local Outlook profile, the process becomes even more complex, requiring manual uploads to Exchange Online via the Import Service.

A more efficient alternative is to use the DRS Softech PST to Office 365 Migration Tool. To import the PST file using this tool, install and launch it on your system. Click on Add PST File to load the file. Next, choose Office 365 as the destination and log in using your credentials. Customize migration settings such as selective email import, maintaining folder hierarchy, and excluding duplicates. After configuring the options, click Start Migration, and the tool will seamlessly transfer all your PST data into the new Outlook 2025 environment without data loss or corruption.
