To import EML files into Zimbra, you can follow two main approaches: using specialized software or manually compressing the files. Here’s a detailed guide on both methods.
Method 1: Using EML to Zimbra Converter Software
Using dedicated software is often the easiest and most efficient way to import EML files into Zimbra. Here’s how to do it:- Install the Cigati EML Converter software on your Windows PC.
- Use the Choose File or Choose Folder option to add your EML files to the software panel.
- After scanning, you can preview the emails. Apply any necessary filters if needed.
- Select IMAP from the drop-down list of saving options.
- Input your Zimbra account login credentials and click Convert to start the import process.
Benefits of Using Software
- Supports bulk migration of files.
- Maintains email properties and attachments.
- User-friendly interface for easy navigation.
Method 2: Manual Compression and Import
If you prefer a manual approach, you can compress your EML files into a format that Zimbra can read:- Organize EML Files: Place all your EML files into designated folders (e.g., Inbox, Sent).
- Download PeaZip: Install PeaZip or another file compression tool.
- Compress Files:
- Open PeaZip and navigate to your EML folder.
- Select all folders containing EML files.
- Click on Add, change the format to TAR, and create a .tar file.
- Then, convert this .tar file to .tar.gz using PeaZip.
- Import into Zimbra:
- Open Zimbra Desktop and ensure your email account is set up.
- Go to Import/Export under your account settings (not under Local Folders).
- Click on Import, browse for your .tgz file, and select it for import.
Considerations
- Make sure to back up your original EML files before starting this process.
- The manual method may take longer but does not require purchasing additional software.
