Migrating emails from one cPanel account to another can be done manually using the File Manager. This method is straightforward but requires careful handling to prevent data corruption. Follow this step-by-step guide to transfer your emails safely.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Access File Manager in cPanel

  1. Log in to the source cPanel account.
  2. Navigate to File Manager > Mail Directory.
  3. Locate the folder corresponding to your email account (e.g., /home/user/mail/yourdomain.com/email_account).

Step 2: Download Email Files

  1. Select all files inside the email folder.
  2. Click Compress and download the ZIP file to your local system.

Step 3: Upload Email Files to the New cPanel

  1. Log in to the destination cPanel.
  2. Open File Manager and navigate to the mail directory.
  3. Upload the ZIP file and extract its contents.

Step 4: Set Correct File Permissions

  1. Ensure the ownership and permissions match the default settings of the new cPanel.
  2. If necessary, run the following command in SSH:
    bash
    user:mail /home/user/mail
This method is useful for small email migrations but may not work well for large mailboxes. For bulk transfers, consider using the MigrateEmails IMAP Backup Tool for a seamless migration.
