Instead of reformatting?

For future reference...If I have a hard drive that has been infected by a virus is it a viable option to use Eraser to wipe clean the hard drive and then reinstall the OS instead of reformatting? I had trouble trying to reformat a hard drive that was initially using ME then upgraded to XP..ended up buying a new drive.

Please advise.

Hi SAS

I would have thought reformatting would be sufficient to delete a virus but if you really want to totally erase the drive then DBAN may be more suitable for you.
