Lost space

I see some other people had this problem, but i still don't know how to resolve it.

I tried erasing unused disc space using version 6.0.6.1376 on my computer running Windows XP using an NTFS file system.

As you can imagine, i lost nearly all my free space.

I've read about looking for a folder with random names in the root of the drive.

I'm not particularly tech savvy, but i assume the root of the drive is the first thing you see when you go to My Computer and double click on the drive (in my case, C:).

I see no folder with random names. Where is it?

Sorry for the probably silly question.

It's definitely not silly, because Joel has posted an FAQ topic on the subject here. Anyway, there's no such thing as a silly question.

If you haven't done so, I'd suggest looking in the task log; right-click on the task in the task pane, and select 'View Task Log'.

The version of Eraser you are using, although described as 'stable', is known to have problems. With XP, you could uninstall Version 6 and revert to Version 5.8.8, or you could move on to the current nightly build of Version 6. A new release of Version 6 is also in the pipeline.
