Low Level Format

I tried to use Dban with a Maxtor SATA drive with no success. Dban could not see the drive. As an alternative I used Maxtor's Powermax software to do a low level format. The info says it overwrites the drive with 0's. Took 15hrs to write a 80gb drive.

I assume that a low level format provides basic data security?

Are there any plans to provide SATA compatibility for Dban?
