[SOLVED] Eraser has stopped working.

First of all, I have already looked at the old instances of this happening.
There is no Eraser folder in my AppData/Local/ folder, therefore no Task List.
I have also removed all registry values for Eraser.
Uninstalled, and reinstalled, and rebooted computer.

Still nothing. It was working fine for a week before it just stopped working.
When I try opening Eraser, it comes up with "Eraser has stopped working" ... i click "close the program"... and then the box comes up a second time. Attached is the text from both Problem details. It looks like its just the "additional information" lines that are different.

I'm on Windows 8.1 64-bit

I have a similar problem. Been using Eraser successfully for two years. Now when I start my ASUS lappie, running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium, there's an error message saying Eraser stopped working.
Uninstalled it, tried reinstalling, got an error message saying, "An internal error occurred."
Downloaded the new version, same result. So I can't even install it, let alone run it. Very strange...
If anyone has a suggested fix, it would be appreciated.

mine's not saying "an internal error has occured" it's just giving me the same old "has stopped working".... but our issues might be related to each other...

There sure is a slow response time from the support people unfortunately... had to resort to wipefile for a bit while I wait...

Had to turn off Auto-Defrag though since Wipefile doesn't have an unused space function like Eraser...

So, it's almost been a month... do the people who develop this software even look at the board?

This looks like errors in .NET - have you ran windows update?

Can you try reinstalling .NET 4.0 and see what happens?

Windows updates are up to date.
Windows 8 and 8.1 have .NET 4.0 integrated into the OS and it can not be uninstalled/reinstalled.
However, Microsoft has the Net Framework Repair Tool, which I just ran, and it found no issues.

Well, now it's opening, which is already way better than before. I just erased a 1GB file with a 35x pass, and no errors. I scheduled an external drive wipe to happen tonight while I'm asleep. I will post tomorrow whether it says completed, or if it encountered an error.
