I have read in a few places that SSD drives don't need to be securely erased as file recovery programs don't work on SSD drives

But I have just run undelete360 on my laptop's SSD drive and it has come up with thousands of files it can undelete.

So what is the truth? Do I need to securely erase a SSD or not?

It is not true. I am able to pull back my data from my laptop, which is powered by SSD

The pivotal line in that article was "Newer solid state drives supporting the TRIM command behave differently"
Make sure TRIM is on.
