throughput drops after start

Hi,

When I start DBAN, it begins at aroud 40Mb/s, but then slowly drops to about 16Mb/s, and keeps dropping. What's going on? How can I keep the fast throughput?

This usually indicates a DMA fault, after which DBAN uses PIO mode.

The dmesg.txt file in the log tarball will indicate DMA faults.

Typical toubleshooting procedures apply: Check IDE cables and main memory.
