Using Computer While Erasing?

Is it ok to use my computer while the program is running?

I'm using a 35-pass overwrite (test the differences between 1-pass, 7-pass, and 35-pass) to wipe free space but, obviously, it is going to take a while (2 days about). Can I utilize my computer during this time (game, etc.)?

I wouldn't use the computer because it may take forever to finish, and multiple passes (more than one) won't erase any better. I tried it.
