If you export all your contacts in a single huge VCF file and then try to import them either in Gmail or a new phone, the import may be unsuccessful, or some contacts may be skipped. The reason is that most apps are unable to handle giant vCard files all at once. The most sensible way out is to break down a large VCF file into several smaller, fully-fledged contact files so that every device can read them properly. I first attempted to do this manually and with free online tools, but these methods often resulted in broken formatting or missed fields. Eventually, I resorted to using DataVare Split vCard Software, which is an offline tool and actually processes vCard files correctly instead of just randomly cutting them. It is compatible with various vCard versions and allows splitting VCF files while retaining the original names, phone numbers, and emails. This method is much more dependable than the basic free VCF splitter tools, and it really resolves the problems with the contact import.
