Hello all,

I'm pleased to announce that Eraser 5.8.8 is released. This release is mainly meant to fix the disk corruption which results from running a first/last 2KB erase on a sparse file as well as to fix the context menu causing Explorer to hang when installed with certain software which also inserts a context menu item.

Read the full announcement and download it from there.

My apologies, but the build uploaded on the 15th of December 2009 was with a wrong version of the Visual C++ redistributables.

If you wish to maintain using the downloaded copy, you may, but you will need to install the Visual C++ 2008 SP1 ATL Security Update runtimes appropriate for your platform (x86 or x64, for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows respectively). Alternatively, you may download the version re-posted on SourceForge today (16 December 2009 at 8:20PM +800GMT). The new file hashes are:

With the release of Eraser 6.0.7 the Eraser 5.x branch has been retired. No active development on this branch will continue. Support for this line of releases also ceases. See the announcement at http://eraser.heidi.ie/announcements/20100414.html for the details.
