Eraser as a substitute for factory reset

I have an old Dell laptop running XP. I can't figure out the Dell instructions for restoring the laptop to factory conditions. It works fine, I just want to resell it but make sure I don't have any retrievable documents or files. Do I just use the "erase unused disk space on C drive" to do this? Thanks/Butch

The best way to totally wipe the machine is to use DBAN as this renders the disks blank.
