I've read through the entire d/l page and FAQ page but my question isn't answered. Should I make a put my C:\ drive on the schedule and execute, what is going to happen? I don't quite understand the functionality of Eraser. Will it erase all files, my operating system (Windows 98), basically everything off my hard drive, or will it simply erase the files that I have deleted but you say still remain on my hard drive? I'm a bit at a loss here.

If you set it to erase freespace it will only do that.

If you ask it to erase the entire drive it will keep erasing files until it reaches those OS files that are locked. The system will become unbootable and most likely crash.

However, the drive will now not be fully cleaned as data will remain in the unwiped parts.

To fully wipe your machine create a DBAN disk using eboot.exe.
