I am completely new to any type of disk wiping utility. here is my scenario: I want my hard drive totally and completely wiped (everything: internet cache, files, traces of programs). It seems to me from reading in teh forums here that there is an option to select specific files to wipe while booted in windows (maybe im wrong). Anyway, will booting off the floppy in dos accomplish what i want? I also understand that the more passes I do the more effective the program will work.

Are you sure you want to erase ABSOLUTELY EVERTHING from your Hard drive i.e. all files, folders, applications and the Operating System.

If yes, then you can go to http://www.heidi.ie/eraser/faq.php and read how to use the Darik's Boot & Nuke option to do this.
