When things go wrong

Okay here it goes or doesn't. Last time I tried a hard drive eraser Necrofile(anyone heard of it or used it or like it) there was help should things go wrong. If after running program and disc space was now overwritten and no longer available the program had a safe mode to regain space. If that didn't work the programmer said to search system for "phile" and delete those, then space would be available. Does Eraser have such a function and should this happen can one search system for some type of file and delete them to regain lost space in event computer freezes during progam or stops responding leaving the unused C drive all filled up.
