Eraser corupts right-click menu - ERROR

I seem to remember that this was raised in many earlier posts and that the solution was to go to Edit>Preferences>General and then uncheck "Enable background (slow) entropy polling".

    How to create seed file

I used Knoppix (http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html) which allows you to boot to Linux from CD without installation and without making any changes to your Windows OS. You can copy the seed file onto the DBAN floppy from within Knoppix.

    "Recycle Bin is empty"

There is a workaround, I think. Open Eraser, select File>New task, check "Files on folder", navigate to My Computer>Local disk(C)>RECYCLER select OK and then right click the new task and select "Run".

    DBAN won't load at all

Replying to my own post, I see that an earlier poster had the same problem with the same laptop model but, as I say, I haven't had the problem previously so wouldn't have thought it's something to do with the drivers as shipped. Anyway, as was suggested to that poster, I used another utility...

    DBAN won't load at all

Firstly, thanks for the replies to an earlier post I made. I found some drivers that had to be installed to allow my HD to be detected. I thought I'd posted thanks already. I have a new problem and not one I've had before. I'm trying to use DBAN on a Dell Inspiron 2500 laptop. I get to the...

HD not detected after using DBAN

Dear Serge, Thanks for your message. "You should give more info if you want people to help you." Sorry if my inexperience has annoyed you. Unless you know the answer it's difficult to give all the possibly relevant information to those who might. No doubt you will be able to remember...

HD not detected after using DBAN

Thanks very much for the speedy reply but I don't actually get any prompt like that. I can boot from the XP disk. I get a prompt about whether I want to install or repair and select install. At the foot of the DOS-type screen I can see that various things are being loaded. I then get a message...

HD not detected after using DBAN

I ran DBAN to erase a 160GB Maxtor HD and that worked fine but now I can't reinstall the OS (XP home). The Windows CD runs ok and seems to load various drivers but I quickly get a message saying that it can't install because no hard drive is detected. I went into the BIOS and the hard drive...
