Perhaps I can help by revealing how I Erase all but the most recent System Restore files on my Vista pc C: drive.
Right click C: drive. Click Properties, then Disk Cleanup. Click the More Options tab. Under "System Restore and Shadow Copies" click Clean up.

Thank you Joel and Kurt. I read Joel's Trac ticket and then decided to first try Kurt's solution:
Ignore the warnings!
Then I sent files to recycle bin and erased with a single pass. Eraser report displayed all files erased, no failures. Pandora concurred. Problem solved.
Not worried, the files are relatively innocent; it's really just a technical intrigue, and I'm sure Joel will be interested.
Per Pandora's report the files are not deleted and therefor cannot be overwritten when erasing free space.

I have a similar problem with Vista, and it's not UAC because mine has been turned off from day one.
Eraser shows four clips in the bin which it cannot erase: Total 2.84 MB 6 files, 3 folders

Thanks to jackjack: I reviewed Unlocker 187 and deferred, preferring to use Sure Delete, (wizard-industries.com) until Eraser is revised. Meanwhile we Vista users may have to find alternatives.
I've used Eraser successfully for many years on my old Win 98 PC, but having problems with it on my new Vista Basic.
It will not erase video clips on C: drive, but will erase them from a flash drive. Am using version 586a.
