    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

Aha! I jumped to a conclusion (about the only exercise I get) based on the size of the installer file. Apparently, prior versions of Eraser included .NET and were thus much larger. I installed .NET 4.7.2 on 30 July 2018 installed all updates through 5 February 2020 (my installation date, not...

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

The link to Eraser 6.2.0.2987 is for a stub installer. How can I get a full installer. It is my practice -- based on 30+ years of doing configuration management on software -- to disable my Internet connection when installing new or updated software.

Under Settings, I have checked the checkbox for "Automatically remove tasks which run immediately and completed successfully". I still have this problem.

    Unwanted Tasks Added to Schedule

When I erase a file via the Windows Explorer context menu, a task is automatically added to Eraser's schedule. Sometimes, this results in duplicate tasks. I only want those tasks that I explicitly create during a drag-and-drop operation. How do I prevent automatic creation of tasks?

    Notification Icon Persists

If I erase from the Windows Explorer context menu, that pops Eraser into the notification area (aka tray). I must then manually exit Eraser to remove it from there. Others have noted the same problem in other forum threads. On the other hand, if I launch Eraser from Windows' Start menu...

    New Version

I solved the problem about "Integrate Eraser into Windows Explorer" WITHOUT any help from this forum or from the Eraser developers. I noticed that, as I install new versions over old ones, the settings used by the old versions persist. Many versions ago, I did not install with "Integrate...

    Notification Icon Persists

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 x64 Eraser 6.2.0.2982 Is there some way to make the Eraser icon disappear from the Windows notification area when its task is completed? My notification area is already too large, but I do indeed want the other icons there. I know this could be solved by terminating the...

    New Version

Yes! I got the full installer and installed Eraser 6.2.0.2982. Now I have two problems: 1. When I use Eraser, its task completes, and I select the X in the upper-right corner of its window to terminate it, its process does not terminate. The Eraser icon remains in my Windows 7...

    New Version

I downloaded Eraser 6.2.0.2982, dated 3 January 2018. I have some questions. 1. The file seems small. Is this a full installer for installing while offline or a stub installer that requires an Internet connection? If this is a stub, is a full installer available? 2. Where can I find a...

    6.2.0.2971?

Version 6.2.0.2979 has disappeared from the downloads page. What happened to it? Also, what is version Eraser6.2.0.2971-NoRuntimes? That is, what is meant by "NoRuntimes"?

No Shell Integration, No Drag And Drop.

I notified the people at heidi.ie about the download problem, and they fixed it. I already have installed the latest version of Eraser without resolving this problem. See my Aug 28 posting in this topic.

No Shell Integration, No Drag And Drop.

Currently, I have Eraser 6.2.0.2979. The downloads page at https://eraser.heidi.ie/download/ seems to be broken. There are NO downloads listed there.

No Shell Integration, No Drag And Drop.

This is a personal PC. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (x64), so I do not understand why you need to check a Windows XP PC. I launched cmd.exe for "Run as Administrator". I got the same error popup as the last time I tried running regsvr32.

No Shell Integration, No Drag And Drop.

I downloaded and installed Eraser 6.2.0.2979. I selected "Run as Administrator" on the install executable. During the installation, I got a notice that .NET was not being installed because I already had a later version of .NET. No, I did not note which version of .NET; but I have at least...

No Shell Integration, No Drag And Drop.

I just now tried that. First of all, the file is Eraser.Shell.dll, not eraser.shell.dll. I do not know, however, whether the file-name is case-sensitive. More important, I got an error popup. See the following image.

still finding data that i erased?

Is it possible that you are trying to erase a flash stick, a solid-state drive (SSD), or a similar medium? That will not work. Eraser works by overwriting the target files. When you re-write solid-state and flash memories, however, the replacement data do not overwrite the original. Thus...

No Shell Integration, No Drag And Drop.

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Eraser 6.2.0.2978 On the Compatibility tab of the Properties window for Eraser, the checkbox under "Privilege Level" for "Run this program as an administrator" is checked. I still have this problem. No, when installing, I did not select "Run as administrator". If that...

    User Documentation

Never mind. I found it. After launching Eraser, I selected Help on the menu bar. This launched the file "Eraser Documentation.pdf"", which I saved.
