Eraser doesn't install on Win ME

What a surprise, no change in the Download page to indicate that the latest version does not work with <= ME or is it a case of it was fixed and no one was told. Round and round we go. Great product, really poor management from Admins (I hate saying this, but when the simple things are not...

'Erase Recycle Bin' - serious problems with v 5.82

One work around to this problem would be, rather than deleting to the Recycle Bin and then erasing that. Erase the file rather than delete it first skipping the whole Recycle Bin step

    Crash On Settings Import

I havn't had any problems importing with it on XP. Is this still an issue for you? If so, would you be willing to share the file you are trying to import (assuming there is nothing too sensitive in it...)

Eraser doesn't install on Win ME

Eraser supports 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, XP & Vista. I don't have an ME box to test this but unless something drastic changed it should work for you. Can you let us know what version of eraser you are trying to install and any error messages you get.

How to get log of list of successfully deleted files

You could take a copy of the directory listing before and after the erase and compare them :) I do not believe there is a way to do this in eraser its self

Help!! Giving my laptop back to work, want to delete tracks

If you do not need to keep your account on the laptop, I would recommend 1) logging in as admin and erasing the c:\documents and settings\<your> 2) uninstalling any extra software. 3) deleting any of your files out side of c:\documents and settings\<your> 4) wipe free space with eraser...

Clearing page file on shutdown in Vista?

The checkbox when used in 2k/XP turned on a feature of the OS rather than a part of eraser, it is possible that Microsoft removed this option from Vista.

    Upgraded 5.84 release of Eraser

Expecting a user to edit their registry is not right. An expandable context menu in a future release would be the better option

Erase may have its work cut out for it on vista

http://www.abanet.org/journal/ereport/jy13tkjasn.html Looks like Vista keeps a lot of information on files and file access that eraser more than likely wont be capable or wiping.

RFC: Sanatization Standards for possible Eraser inclusion

Interesting idea, but I don't think you'll find anyone willing to pay the several hundred euro/dollar/poud price tage these services request when recovering files.

RFC: Sanatization Standards for possible Eraser inclusion

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have trying to come up with a list of the various country/government data sanitizations but apart from the DoD ones I am having a hard time getting any detailed specifics on how they are performed. The main reason I am bringing this up is for...
