5.8 and importing saved .ers files

If I export a saved .ers file from 5.6 and then try to import it into 5.8 it fails to read the file.

Is there a way to work around this ( I have +100 tasks saved and would hate to have to enter them back in one by one.

I have this problem with v5.82. When I try to import an .ers file from v5.7, it reports "an unnamed file has a bad format" and doesn't import anything.
