Accidentally Cut instead of Copy, Did I Need to Use Eraser?

Hey,

So I was moving sensitive files from my desktop to an external hard drive and for the first 2 files, I simply cut and pasted them into the external hard drive. I intended to copy instead and use Eraser to overwrite the files on my desktop. I did this for the rest of the files.

Since the first 2 were not "removed" from my desktop using Eraser, are they still somewhere on it? Did I even need to use Eraser if I wanted to truly remove it? If so, is there a way to use Eraser on already cut and pasted files?

Yes 'cutting' the files just copies and then uses windows delete so the file will be in the trash bin and recoverable.
Erase the windows trash or empty the trash and do a freespace erase.
