i think someone else posted a question about the same problem. after dban did it's wipe i tried installing xp but my monitor wouldn't come out of sleep leaving me with a black screen.

This is usually fixed by unplugging main power and letting the computer cool down.

In worse cases, the BIOS battery must be removed.

Also double-check that your Microsoft Windows installation media is really bootable.
